Cutting ultra-processed food consumption could lower type 2 diabetes risk
A new study from University College London shows that reducing ultra-processed food intake can significantly lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. Researchers found a 17% higher risk of diabetes for every 10% increase in ultra-processed food consumption, highlighting the urgent need to replace these harmful foods with less processed alternatives. With ultra-processed foods making up 60% of the average North American diet, the findings emphasize the critical role of dietary changes in preventing serious health issues, including diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.
